environmental responsibility

Our environmental commitment.

Why the can?

We reside inside of Oskar Blues Brewery, the pioneer of canning craft beer. We decided to put our craft coffee in cans to pay homage to our roots. Not only do cans fit right into our active lifestyle thanks to how durable and portable they are but we have found they also protect our coffee products better than bottles or bags. Did we mention our aluminum cans are infinitely recyclable? Yea. That’s rad.

Coffee is obviously the most important part of what Hotbox Roasters does. So we go to great lengths to insure we are only sourcing the best coffees from around the world. With that being said, we also do our homework and make sure that during the sourcing process we only work with farms that treat people ethically. We aim to work with farms that are committed to bettering the quality of life for the farmers and families involved in the coffee process and emphasize environmental sustainability.

Once the coffee is sourced and arrives at our Roastery we fire up our roaster. At Hotbox we use a Loring Kestrel 35 coffee roaster because it’s the most environmentally friendly roaster on the market, we dig that. The Loring uses 80% less natural gas than a conventional roaster and uses patented single-burner technology which delivers smokeless roasting. It’s USA built and emits much less CO2 into the environment…Science, yo!

“MINIMIZING OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT IS A TOP PRIORITY, SO WE USE ALUMINUM CANS WHICH ARE INFINITELY RECYCLABLE AND PROTECT THE FLAVOR AND CONSISTENCY OF ALL OUR COFFEE PRODUCTS.”
